The Old Queens Head. Sounds like the kind of place where transvestite pensioners go for a little sucky sucky. It's not. It's actually filled with trendies. You know the kind. Guys that wouldn't look out of place fronting some indie band with their long messy hair, tight jeans and 'fuck you' attitudes, and girls that look like; well; like they want to sleep with guys who have long messy hair, tight jeans and 'fuck you' attitudes.
I was invited there this evening to see The River Rat Pack do a warm up gig for their upcoming tour. I actually didn't see them in the end. I don't know when they were supposed to be on stage, but I'd been there for four hours and it was cold outside. The band I did see was interesting though. And I don't mean that in an entirely good way. I mean it in the kind of way you might cock your head to the side and peer questionably at the wonderous pattens made by a footprint that someone's left in a dog turd. I'm not saying they were totally bad either. They were just, interesting. One girl played the electro-harp (which I didn't even know existed) and the accordion [Stupidest. Instrument. Ever], and another girl played the Madelin and the violin. And they both played the ankle jingly. I'm sure that's not it's proper name, but it was on their ankles and it jingled. They both sung too. I use the word 'sung' in the loosest way possible. They both made noises into their microphones. I guess they reminded me a bit of Regina Spektor if she had bronchiatus and an inner ear infection; or if she was really a wolf. Like Teen Wolf. That was a great film. Not Teen Wolf Too though (yes, it was spelt like that). That sucked. Just wasn't the same without MJF man.
Where was I? Oh yes, so as I was cruising around the men's room I found a flyer for the rest of the months gigs, and look who's playing there on March 20th. A-Skillz. Awesome! I'm there. For £4 it'd be silly to miss it.
Just in case you don't believe me, here's a scan of the flyer. Double click pictures to make them bigger, and click again to bring 'em back down again.
